Same-Day Dentistry
Same-day dentistry uses innovative CAD/CAM technology to make your crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers in the same day. We use state-of-the-art equipment to scan your teeth into our system. As a result, no more messy impressions have to be taken. We then design the crown using software on our computers, and have the crown made right here in the office. The process does take a little longer than your normal visit, but there’s typically no need for a follow-up appointment. In most cases, the restoration will be cemented in the same day and you can leave with your brand new tooth.
Dental Implants
Dental Implants are becoming more common and can replace most missing teeth. At North Brooklyn Dental Care, we will work with you to claim your insurance benefits and work within your budget. To find out if they will work for you, schedule your consultation today at (347) 889-7734.
Dental implants are made of titanium, one of the most bio-compatible materials on the market, which means even if you have a metal allergy you are still likely to be an excellent candidate for implants. The implant is designed to function as the root of a tooth, meaning it is placed entirely in the jaw bone, just as your tooth’s natural root is. The top portion of the implant can be a single tooth, a part of a bridge helping to replace multiple teeth, or a component designed to improve a denture or partial denture.
Crowns
A crown is a cover or “cap” your dentist can put over a tooth. The crown restores the tooth to its normal shape, size, and function.
At North Brooklyn Dental Care, we strive to be as conservative as possible. It’s a responsible way to conduct dentistry. In the old days, it used to be “crown or filling” was the only restoration option from your family dentist. Now, with advancements in adhesion protocols and porcelain systems, we can offer more conservative options like inlays and onlays. In certain instances where we are replacing an existing crown or there is a lot of decay or damage to the tooth, the best option might be a full-coverage crown.
Dental Implants
Considered the gold-standard technique for replacing one or more missing teeth, dental implants can restore your smile with long-lasting results and a beautiful, natural-looking outcome. Implants can also preserve the strength and density of your jawbone, unlike traditional removable dentures and bridges.
Implant-Supported Dentures
In addition to dental implants, another alternative to traditional dentures is implant-supported dentures. This restorative technique uses fewer dental implants to secure a complete or partial denture in place. With greater stability, durability, and comfort than most conventional removable dentures, this option is a popular choice for many individuals who do not want to replace their teeth with a full set of dental implants. In some cases, it is even possible to use your existing dentures.Crowns and Bridges
If having one or more missing teeth is keeping you from comfortably greeting people with a smile, we can help. A full set of functional teeth can be crucial to your dental and oral health, speech, and appearance. With one or more missing teeth, chewing may become more difficult, and you’re also more susceptible to gum disease, speech disorders, and changes in face shape. A bridge can address these concerns by replacing missing teeth with natural-looking artificial teeth. Two types of bridges are:
- Fixed and removable bridges attach artificial teeth to the adjoining healthy teeth with crowns.
- Implant bridges attach artificial teeth under the gums or directly to the jaw.
A crown is a type of dental cap placed over the entire tooth surface to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are used to attach a bridge, cover a filling that is too large for the tooth to support, protect a cracked or broken tooth, cover a tooth that’s undergone a root canal, and enhance dental aesthetics. Some types of crowns are:
- Porcelain crowns: Today’s technology allows us to create crowns made of porcelain that are natural-looking in shape and color, leave no black edge at the gum line, and can last up to 20-30 years with excellent care.
- Metal crowns: Crowns made of gold, silver, or porcelain over metal—the standard for crowns for many years—are still occasionally used.
Our dental office strives to make crowns that look and feel like the real thing, for a more natural smile.
Inlays and Onlays
The surface of the teeth can become damaged as a result of many factors, including decay, breaks, and fractures. Additionally, old fillings occasionally need to be replaced. For both of these concerns, an inlay or onlay is often the recommended repair. These types of fillings can actually make your tooth stronger while saving valuable tooth structure. Inlays and onlays typically require less tooth to be removed when compared to some other restorations, often making them an ideal alternative to silver fillings and crowns. Inlays and onlays are:
- Made from a wide range of materials, including composite materials (which are gentler on opposing teeth, but are prone to more wear and discoloration), gold (the strongest, most expensive, and unnatural-looking), or tooth-colored porcelain (most natural-looking, strong)
- Permanently cemented into the tooth
- Highly durable and long-lasting
After evaluating the damaged tooth, North Brooklyn Dental Care will help you make the best decision for your budget and your mouth.
